Japanese Hair Dye: Mandom Lucidol L in Royal Latte Review

The Japanese markets in the area recently started carrying boxes of Mandom's Lucidol L hair dye ($8.99). I thought I'd give it a go since my roots were really starting to show. I picked up Royal Latte and got down to business.

The box dye kit comes with all the basics: dye, a pair of gloves, protective hair serum, comb top applicator (not in picture) and intructions.

The before shot with my dark roots showing

The result! It's not as light as the color on the box (when does that ever happen?) but it's still a nice medium brown. I don't think I've had lighter hair than this in recent years.

To get a even dye job I had the formula in my roots for 15 minutes first, then applied the remaining dye to the rest of my hair for another 30 minutes. The instructions said to leave in the dye for 20 minutes but I left it in for longer knowing how resilient my hair can be. I used one box but probably could've used two, or really 1.5. Sorry for no makeup face, I was getting ready for bed.

Pros:
♥ Litte to no scent which is a HUGE plus
♥ Gentle yet effective, it leaves your hair feeling soft after rinse
♥ Affordable

Cons:
♦ May be hard to locate

Where To Buy
Check your local Asian market. I also see it on Amazon here.
XOXO, M

  1. Your hair looks good! I've been tempted to colour my hair recently but I'm trying to give it a rest after years of damaging it so badly >.<

  6. Lovely!! Though the colour looks kind of like my natural colour. My hair isn't black like most Chinese but rather a dark brown. When there's light, it becomes light brown.

  11. Hi Mona,

I am thinking of dying my hair too. I am abit unsure of the color to choose and I think your new color look nice and suit your skin tone well too.

Will look in to this brand further more and loving your nails too!

    Have a great day =)

  12. This nice subtle brown result on you really makes me want to change my hair color...but after years of bleaching it needs some rest. Thanks for sharing about this brand. No scent really is a huge plus. I don't miss those nights reeling in the bathroom from the heavy dosage of ammonia in my at-home hair dye kits!
