New Maybelline Eye Studio Color Plush Quad Review, Swatches, LOTD

Is it just me or are drugstore cosmetics starting to look up these days? I briefly mentioned the new Maybelline EyeStudio here and picked up two palettes to try, #110 Legendary Lilac and #20 Sapphire Siren. The palettes are $9.99 each and there are 12 palettes to choose from.

I think the packaging is cute and it's fairly compact. The eyeshadow size is smaller than the Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow Quads

The back of the palette comes with a little eye chart

The shadows are pigmented and packs a little shimmer. They're soft, smooth, and blends easily. You can apply them both wet or dry, I've tried both and the shades came out rather vibrant when applied wet. The downside is that they do crease even with primer after about 4-5 hours.

I did a look with the Legendary Lilac palette, it came out soft and girly...

I followed the eye chart

I finished the look off with Benefit Coralista blush and Beauty For Real Light Hearted lip gloss over MAC Lip Erase.

Overall I do like these shadows, they're good for a drugstore product. The $9.99 price point is on the expensive side, I'd wait for some sort of discount to purchase them.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

  11. the quality of drugstore makeup/packaging is improving, but the price has started going up as a result. the sapphire quad looked really pretty when i saw it at CVS but i have no idea when i'd use all the colors - so i picked up copper chic instead :) definitely worth picking up another quad the next time a BOGO sale is going on!

  15. Pretty FOTD! Too bad the shadows only last for 4-5 hours though... I imagine they'd probably last even less time on me since my lids are so oily. =/
