Facial Cleansing Sponge Usage & Review

I bought these Watson's facial cleansing sponge on my Asia trip and have been using them on a daily basis. To use the sponge, soak it, apply cleanser, foam, and cleanse your face with it. Why use it? To keep your face squeaky clean!

The Test: I used the sponge after removing my fully made up face with makeup remover and a quick wash. Look at what it picked up...

The Result: I was shocked that the sponge was still able to remove so much dirt, shows you how much makeup sticks to your face OR how ineffective some makeup removers are. Either or its safer to clean your face again after makeup removers.

Thoughts: I'm a big fan of these sponges! The sponge is gentle, soft, and removes facial residue effectively. Aside from makeup they're great for hard to remove face masks. The sponges are affordable at about $7 for a packet of 2. I'm sure there's something similar here in the states (I'll have to scour the local drugstore to check). If you have access to these do give them a try.

Tips: Do keep these clean by washing them off quickly after usage and drying them out.

Where to purchase: Watson's drugstores in Asia (I'll do some homework here for subsitutes)

**Keeping your skin clean avoids acne and other irritations. Dirt can lead to bacteria which may cause cystic acne which may cause scarring

If anyone knows of something similar do let me know!

XOXO, M

  1. The 'after' picture reminds me of the first time I used my Clarisonic, haha. Now I always use a make-up remover, and then facewash + Clarisonic to make sure my face is SQUEAKY clean, haha.

    That being said, my recent forehead acne is slowly getting better and now I am back to the random pimples on my cheeks. Just one though. I'm hoping it goes away soon, as the rest of my skin has decided to be nice and normal. XD;

  7. Awesome! I'm glad you found something that works effectively for a good price! I used to use the facial cleansing brush from Shisedo. I should pic up a new one & start using it again. Shisedo's is the softest!

  9. You are good at reminding me to use facial sponges hehe. After the last one we purchased in Bonjour, they've produced a black version of it, I don't know the difference but it works just as well. It looks like I need to give this Watsons one a try too.

  15. I was shocked to see what was left behind on my face after using makeup remover too! For me, cleansing oil does the trick too. I am having a hard time finding one that doesn't break me out thou. But sponges are good because they exfoliate too.

    I think ecotools has a similar looking sponge. Can't wait for your other suggestions!

  16. Great review! I actually bought something somewhat similar in Toronto at a 99 cents store. But it's colored so I'm not sure if I'll be able to see the makeup removed....and yea, I haven't used it yet >.<

  19. Awesome sponge! I have a similar microfiber sponge that has charcoal fibers (charcoal made into fibrous thread? not sure..) and it's called the Angel sponge (I think). It works nicely! They sell it in Mitsuwa but the one I have is an old version I got in Japan. I saw a similar sponge to yours in Japan called a Konyaku sponge (arrow root) which is like gelatin, didn't buy it though.

  20. Hi Mona! I'm in Singapore and I just grabbed one of these sponges and I have to say you're absolutely right! I was shocked too when I saw all the foundation on the sponge. Alas, this means that my cleansing ritual hasn't been too good ....
