Prior to leaving for my big Asia trip I picked up two of the Boscia kits and the detox mask available at Sephora to try. Boscia is a natural line without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances and dyes. Boscia is owned and distributed by the Japanese cosmetics company Fancl.
Price: $48
Comes with the following:
- 1.86oz Cleanser
- 1.86oz Toner
- 0.500z Serum for complexion treatment
- 0.50oz Daytime cream with SPF15
Thoughts
Cleanser: Gel cleanser that doesn't strip your face of oil but it also doesn't clean very thoroughly. I would use this cleanser after a makeup remover then follow up with a cleansing sponge. To my surprise there would be more grime on my sponge!
Botanical Blast Toner: I got into Boscia because of their balancing toner, this one with botanical blast isn't that much different. Hydrating and light weight. I like their balancing toner a little more because of the scent.
Serum For Complexion Treatment: When I first purchased this kit I was breaking out and thought it was the perfect time to test it. I used it a few times and saw some good results. I continued to have problematic skin throughout the summer due to the humidity and pollution in Asia but this product didn't do much for me after that very first time.
Oil Free Day Time Cream with SPF15: I like this cream, especially for the summer. Its lightweight and contains SPF15. Its not clogging and applies very smooth.
This kit claims to clear up complexion for problematic skins. However, I didn't feel like it was very effective for what it was meant to do.
Price: $48
Comes with the following:
- 1.86oz Cleanser
- 1.86oz Toner
- 0.50 oz Daytime cream with SPF15
- 0.50 oz Night time cream
- Green Tea blotting paper
Thoughts
Cleanser: Gel cleanser that's very much like the one in the clear complexion kit. Its a gentle cleanser but doesn't properly clean
Balancing Toner: By far my favorite product from the range, I had the full size version and absolutely loved it. Its light weight and hydrates well with a soothing scent.
Oil Free Day Time Cream with SPF15: Same product as the one in the clear complexion kit, see review above.
Recharging Night Moisture Cream: This night cream is a little lacking for me. Its so light that I didn't think it was moisturizing or hydrating enough for night time use.
Green Tea Blotting Sheet: Blotting sheets don't work on my period. I could've used a pack of these a day during the hot and humid days in Asia. I don't generally use blotting paper for that reason.
Overall I liked the Normal to Oily kit better than Clear Complexion kit. That is if you had to pick a kit to purchase. Note that both kits are suppose to last about 30 days, it took me about 40-45 days or so to use it all.
I would go with single item purchases rather than the kits. I love their toner and highly recommend it. The oil free daily hydration day time cream is a great summer time but may not be moisturizing enough for the winter months. Definitely skip the cleansers, no point in getting a cleanser that doesn't cleanse. Boscia products are very gentle, sometimes so gentle that its not very effective.
Price: $25 for 2.5 Oz
Thoughts
This is suppose to be a deep cleansing clay mask. You apply after cleaning your face and leave it on for 5 minutes then rinse off. Like most Boscia products it is gentle. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and clean. I really liked this product when I first purchased it, that was until I discovered how wonderful the VOV wash off mask in volcanic ash and 17 cereal were. If you don't have access to the VOV masks then this is a good option.
Now that I'm done with all the Boscia cleansers I've moved onto the Sekkisho medicated facial soap
This was purchased in Japan for about $17 with the case. They also sell the soap alone.
Its only been a few days so it'll be reviewed at a later time
This blog is turning 1 later this Month! I started this blog the day before my birthday last year. I'm finalizing on the 1k+ follower giveaway and it'll coincide with the blog's one year anniversary.
XOXO, M
Interesting. I've been looking for a new skin care line to use.
ReplyDeleteGreat review, I've always lingered around their products, but it's quite pricey. I'm going to check out the toner, thanks =)
ReplyDeletevery nice :3 always been tempted by boscia stuff, and now i know what to look in to xD
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your review on the Sekkisho soap.
ReplyDeleteI was actually quite curious about Boscia...now I probably won't try it, seems like another high end brand that's just mediocre...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review!
I was eyeing Boscia for a while but maybe not so much now. Thanks for the mini-reviews. I'll probably go for the toner, day moisturizer and mask =]
ReplyDeleteThat medicated soap looks so unattractive! LOL, but do let us know how it works and where to get it =]
Happy Early Birthday too! Congratz on 1000+ followers and your blog's 1st anniversary too! Can't wait until your giveaway, I really hope I can win something for once ^^

The Boscia products you tried seem nice... but I'm not sure if I would ever purchase them. So the brand is Japanese (if owned and distributed by Fancl?)
ReplyDeleteI read Nic Nic loved that Sekkisho soap. The only thing about these soaps are that they are somewhat drying.. at least for me. Maybe the brand I am using is not that good?
Thanks for the reviews. I was thinking about getting the kits after I'm done with my current skincare items, but now it seems better to buy the better item(s) only. Do you have any suggestions for a good winter moisturizer?
ReplyDeleteMmm, thanks for the reviews! Definitely gives me some things to keep in mind. And wow - early congratulations!! :D
ReplyDeleteNice review!! :D I really want to try Boscia and thanks for this :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute soap! :D
After reading your Boscia review, I found samples that have been tucked away in my makeup drawer and threw them away. If I didn't use them before, I'm definitely NOT going to use them after reading your bloggy. Thankiessss.
