I returned the Skyn Iceland facial cleanser from my Sephora haul after reading the warning on the box. It said... caution, this product contains silver, do not use if you have a cut. I get acne cuts all the time therefore it wouldn't work out for me.
Stopped by LUSH for the very first time where I was introduced to my new love... Angels on Bare Skin. Its a gentle exfoliating cleanser that works magic! I never had a facial cleanser work as well as this. It moisturizes and balances out the oil on your skin. The only downside is its lifespan, good for about 3 months (don't get a huge container!)
Its not attractive in terms of packaging and appearance but it works!!! and that's what matters!
I have combination skin with a seriously oily-T and dry cheeks. This cleanser makes it so smooth and balanced. Lush will give you a sample of the product if you ask for it at the store, = if you're interested go give it a try first. They also have Herbalism for oily skin, I got a sample of it and its too drying for me.
What I'm not in love with is Mario Badescu Skin careI mentioned in a earlier post about going on a new skin regimen with Mario badescu samples. I've heard mixed reviews on the products, some consider it their holy grail while others say it was meh. I wouldn't say its meh, nor is it my HG. It simply didn't do anything for my skin. None of the items were stood out
-Enzyme gel cleanser: Just ok not that much better than drugstore ones
-Cucumber lotion: I like the scent of this toner but that's about it
-Ceramide eye gel: Had a cooling effect on puffy under eye but it was too sticky
-Aloe moisturizer with SPF 15: I like this one, a lightweight day time cream
-Control moisturizer for oily skin: another Just ok, not that much better than Nivea
-Cucumber tonic mask: didn't really do anything
-Lifting mask: didn't really do anything
-Strawberry scrub: smells and looks like strawberry yogurt, but a drugstore exfoliator would work just as well
Drying Lotion: Its not a overnight miracle like some had said. It does reduce the size of the acne and redness. I would probably get this again, and its the only thing I'd purchase from their skin care range. DustBunny mentioned that the buffering lotion works better. I plan on giving it a shot the next time I drop by the spa.
Lash growth obsession did not work out either...
I followed the directions, applied it twice a day and while my lashes are slightly longer its not denser or more voluminous. But I guess all it says is "longer lashes in 28 days." I won't be repurchasing this
Everyday Minerals...
I'll start off with saying that I'm not big on mineral makeup. It clogs my pores and make them look ginormous! I have it on for a day and would develope acne by the end of the day! Did anyone else experience this?
I do like their flat kabuki brush
Goodies!
The magazine Fuz had on her blog arrived...
I ordered it from yesasia.com, but if you have a Chinatown by you check that out first, I saw it at a bookstore in Chinatown for $7 vs $13 online.
Bobbi Brown F&F purchase arrived (minus the pink shimmerbrick! damnit it's out of stock)
- Basic Palette
- Plum Palette (holiday l/e)
(they're both pretty brown... )
- Black Gel Liner
- Samples: Primer, face tonic, foundation, oil control lotion
I figure these palettes would be handy to have in my purse for on the go makeup or work makeup even.
After reading Miss. Tia's BB cream entries and some internet researching I went ahead and purchased the Skinfood mushroom BB and BRTC BB creams as well as a sample of the Gowoonsesang one from ktown...See coke can for size reference. The BRTC one is tiny! I got it from a ebay seller that shipped it from Korea which took about 6 days. I've only been using these for a few days so I can't talk about their healing properties just yet. I'll do a comparison on these later.
Forgot to include in last haul, Shu Uemura F&F, MAC, Sephora- MAC 129 Brush
- CoverFX 170 Brush (I love the tip!)
- Shu Uemura 4F Liner Brush
- Shu Uemura Basic Mascara (My absolute favorite)
- MAC Paintpot in blackground
- MAC Metal-X eyeshadow in Pink Platinum
- MAC Mixing Medium
- Shiseido Mascara Base
While browsing the aisles of Duane Reade (drugstore) I noticed this...
Fresh Minerals.. anyone tried this? interesting packaging
Sally Hansen rather than just the lip or nail products. Anyone likes it? I've only tried the concealer and its decent.
Random New York on my cellphone...
lighting inside Bergdorf Goodman

Tree at Rockefeller is all it and shiny with its Swarovski star
Saks Fifth Avenue snowflake lighting
Room decor idea, feathers in small vases at CB2
I've been using the Sally Hansen foundation and loose powder (first drugstore foundation and powder I have ever tried) and I do like it. I think it's one of those love it or hate it things :P But I would say to give it a try!
ReplyDeletegreat hauls! anddd i heard that the sally mineral blushes are prettttyyy good!
ReplyDeleteooo the tree, I didnt get to go yet to see it. Its been so much shorter in the recent years. Remember when the whole thing was about having the largest tree...now it looks stumpy. It has a napoleon complex. lol Tell me how you like BB gel liner. ^.^

be careful with lush products, especially if you get it in the tub, not to get water in there because it develops mold and its gross >_<
ReplyDeleteI miss NYC! I've never been there during the Holiday it looks oh so magical =P
ReplyDeleteI've seen a demo at LUSH and their products seem pretty cool, I just never bought anything from them.
Your hauls sure do look nice though!
The Copper Crystal should arrive this week, and then I can make your earrings for you. I'm so sorry about the wait! I don't have everything in my current inventory
:(
but I will send you a surprise with it :)
I hope you're having a good week!
I know I am cause finals are over for me !!!
the buffering lotion from MB is great, except it really only works when you're just starting to get the pimple, like when it's under the skin and hasn't surfaced. If it's already on the skin, it works to reduce the redness and get the pimple to go away, but if you can use it right when you notice it, the pimple will never show up.
ReplyDelete@Diane
